Y’all Have Seen the Image — Now, Here’s the Story Behind It 🇺🇸🐔
Have y’all seen this picture? If you have been following us on social or email, you know it already — a whole squad of chickens, chest out, lined up and proud, with Old Glory waving strong in the background. It has received great comments from our community.
Now, we’ve started seeing the same image floatin’ around online, even used by other brands. And hey — we’re not mad. In fact, we’re flattered. They say imitation is the highest form of flattery, and we’ll tip our hats to that. But just so y’all know: that picture started right here with us.
It’s not just a fun photo. It means something to us — and to the folks we serve.
See, we didn’t pick the “Soldier Fly” name just ‘cause it sounded tough. We chose it because it’s personal. Our founders met while deployed in the Middle East, serving this country. And when they came back home, they wanted to keep serving — this time, by helping fellow farmers and flock-keepers with a better option for feed. That’s how Egg Brigade was born.
We raise our Black Soldier Fly Larvae right here in the U.S., and we make sure y’all know exactly what you’re getting: no mystery boxes from overseas, no weird labels like "Care your hen." (Yes, that was a real thing one customer got from an imported brand. Wild.)
Here’s what someone said:
"My first and last order of soldier fly larvae was from China. The box said, 'Care your hen.' Thanks, Amazon, for 90% off-brand Chinese products. I’m placing an order with you guys right now!"
That kind of feedback? That’s why we do this. Y’all care about your chickens, and we care about doing right by y’all — plain and simple.
So yeah, the image is cute. But it’s also our way of showing pride. Pride in where we come from. Pride in what we serve. And pride in every scoop of soldier fly larvae that goes out to your flock.
We’re not just wearing camo for show. We lived it. We earned it. And we built this brand on that same grit and loyalty.
To all our fellow farmers, chicken lovers, and Veterans out there — thank you for standing with us. Now let’s keep marchin’.
And now is the best part: In anticipation for 4th of July and its significance for us, we are offering free T-shirts featuring this iconic graphic for any customer ordering on our website between June 30 and July 6.
