Founders
James and Ethan met in the desert sands of the Middle East during a deployment in 2022. Over bonfires and cigars, they agreed that bug farming was new, interesting, and... tasty too. For the chickens, of course. Now, they have partnered together to repurpose food waste and unused indoor spaces for sustainable Black Soldier Fly (BSF) farming and distribution.
With a combined 50 years in the Army, local law enforcement, and the Federal government, James and Ethan bring a passion for the military community and diverse management and leadership experiences into Soldier Fly farming. And their chickens agree - BSF are the best!
Why Soldier Flies?
With way more calcium and phosphorus than mealworms, Soldier Flies are more than just a treat - they are a boon to egg production for the intrepid homesteader looking for food security and independence. Soldier Flies represent the future of insect farming - they can consume just about anything, including all that food waste from the restaurant! Your chickens will love them dried, wet, or still wriggling. And you'll love watching their egg production soar.
Our Vision
Egg Brigade uses innovative techniques to reclaim food waste and repurpose unused spaces to grow Soldier Fly larvae as a nutritious treat for chickens!
